There's plenty of atmosphere in France's premier fishing port -
from the colourful bustle of the quayside to the peaceful cobbled
streets of The Old Hauteville. Time slows down as you wander through
the old town which is dominated by the magnificent basilica of Notre
Dame with an 11th Century crypt, and, refurbished 13th Century castle
with its important, provincial museum. There are excellent shops,
hypermarkets and a grand variety of restaurants, which take pride
in offering an excellent array of fresh local seafood. Not forgetting
the open market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. Also there is
the incredible Nausicaa Centre, the largest European complex dedicated
to the knowledge of the sea. Young and old alike will be fascinated
by sea life as never seen before and the challenge of tickling an
elusive Ray.
