May 30, 2000 Hoverspeed has opened the first of its airport-style executive lounges on the Continent at the International Hoverport in Calais, as part of a major revamp of its ‘1st’ premium travel product. The Dover/Calais hovercraft service is the first of Hoversped’s four routes to undergo refurbishment with new pre-departure lounges on both sides of the Channel, together with an expanded and refurbished ‘1st’ cabin onboard the company’s twin hovercraft. In addition to use of the private lounges both ashore and onboard, passengers travelling ‘1st’ benefit from fast-track check-in, priority loading and unloading, and complimentary refreshments and newspapers.
