March 6, 2002 High speed car ferry operator Hoverspeed is heading for a record 2002 on its key Dover - Calais route with forward bookings for the year currently up 29% compared to the same period in 2001. Over 100,000 advance bookings have already been taken for travel from the UK to the Continent as demand for the company's fast ferry services goes from strength to strength. A further major boost for Hoverspeed is an increase in bookings from the Continent on its routes to the UK. In a sector of the cross channel market devastated for much of 2001 by the foot and mouth epidemic in the UK, Hoverspeed's in bound bookings for 2002 currently show around a 40% increase, over 15,000 bookings, compared to the same period in 2001. "Hoverspeed's ever-improving market position and popularity amongst the travelling public, preferring speed and exclusive levels of personal service, is clearly reflected in these positive figures for the coming 2002 season," says Managing Director, Geoffrey Ede. Meeting customer demand, the company is increasing its sailing frequency on the Dover routes for the 2002 season with departures every hour on the hour from 0600 daily. On the Dover - Calais route Hoverspeed will be providing up to 15 return sailings daily, compared to 10 in 2001. Two return sailings daily will also operate between Dover and Ostend. With the company's combined Dover fleet of four Seacat catamarans returning from winter refits, Hoverspeed will also be introducing new levels of personalised at-seat service for all passengers in addition to newly refurbished on board cabin facilities.Press Release Media contact: Nick Stevens, Public Relations Manager Telephone: (01304) 865170 |
