October 9, 2001 High speed car ferry operator Hoverspeed has received the top Gold Award at the UK Travel Advertising and Marketing Awards for 2001. Beating off other top names in the travel industry, Hoverspeed was chosen for this top accolade in the category of Low Budget TV Commercial, for its advertising campaign launching the new Superseacat high speed car ferry fleet to the short sea channel routes. Titled "Rocket" and broadcast throughout the Meridian TV region in May and June, the main visual of the 30 second mute advertisement featured an ariel view of the Superseacat in rocket launch mode, departing from Dover. The campaign was created by Hoverspeed's appointed London based agency DLKW and the TV advertisement formed part of an extensive media launch of the new look Superseacat services on the Dover routes. This also included national press, radio and main road network poster sites. Trevor Bond, Head of Sales and Marketing for Hoverspeed, who collected the award on behalf of the company, said, "We are delighted that our campaign has been recognised in this way by the leading voices of the UK advertising industry. The TV advertisement needed to be dramatic as it was important to get the message over that Hoverspeed has been re-launched on the channel routes moving from the hovercraft era to a new look Superseacat fleet." Hoverspeed operates a fleet of high speed car ferries on the Dover - Calais and Ostend routes and from Newhaven to Dieppe. Up to 10 return sailings daily are provided between Dover and Calais, two return sailings daily from Dover to Ostend and up to three return sailings daily on the seasonal Newhaven - Dieppe service.Press Release Media contact: Nick Stevens, Public Relations Manager Telephone: (01304) 865170 |
