March 21, 2001 High speed car ferry operator is staging a public open day on board its new look fast craft this Saturday 24 March, prior to the Newhaven - Dieppe route re-opening on Friday 30 March. The Seacat catamaran, 'Diamant', arrives in Newhaven on Thursday 22 March and the public open day will take place from 1000am - 4pm on Saturday. On board, visitors will be able to make a tour of the craft and view passenger facilities such as the main passenger cabin areas, the upper deck bar and lounge, duty paid shop, 1st lounge, and visit the bridge to be shown how the high technology drives the craft at speeds of up to 38 knots. There will also be the opportunities for some wine-tasting on board from Hoverspeed's extensive range of new world wines, which passengers can purchase from Hoverspeed's Dieppe terminal based Hoverstores. Special excursion travel offers to Dieppe will also be available for all visitors to the craft. Further new features of the service this season will be a new 1st lounge in the Newhaven passenger terminal and a new Pre-Order, Pre-Paid Select and Collect facility. These will also be open for public viewing on Saturday. All visitors should report to the Hoverspeed reception, Newhaven Harbour, prior to visiting the craft.
