August 31, 2000 Hoverspeed is believed to be maintaining the sole cross-Channel surface links between the UK and France with fast car ferry services operating normally between Dover and Calais, and from Newhaven to Dieppe. The companys hovercraft service continues to operate a full schedule of 12 return departures between Dover and Calais despite the blockade. The French port of Dieppe also remains open, and Hoverspeed is maintaining 3 return departures on its superseacat service from Newhaven. Hoverspeeds seacat service from Folkestone to Boulogne is the only service currently affected by the blockade, although traffic is being diverted to the hovercraft service. Hoverspeed is also maintaining a full schedule of cross-Channel services from Dover to the Belgian port of Ostend with 5 return departures.Press Release Media contact: Nick Stevens, Public Relations Manager Telephone: (01304) 865170 |
